Welcome to Fat Girl Glam,

I promote Size acceptance and support for women who are not just Fat but Fatabulous! As a Plus women I have come to realize that some people are just shocked to pieces that I dress nice or that I do not like buffets... I started this blog to promote size acceptance and to encourage all plus size girls and women to be comfortable in the skin they are in. I have been above a size 14 since I was 13 years old. At 28 I am a size 24. I work per diem as plus size model and have modeled for 3 years. I work full-time as a make-up artist and love shoes and clothes. I love to enjoy life and have yet to let my weight close any doors for me.

I did not change Fat in my blog title to Phat because I am proud of myself just the way I am and so should you. Let's begin our road to being Fat and Glamourous.

BBW Model or BBW Insert adjective here?

Disclaimer: What I am about to say may in fact offend or disturb some of the subjects of interest, though that is not my intention. I am discussing a real issue here.

I am an nonjudgmental person. I could care less what one does as a profession so long as it does not affect me or my family. I think a woman should be successful and by her own standards. However, I am getting more than a bit frustrated by the misuse of the terms BBW and BBW Model. In the recent months I have sought out other fellow BBW to befriend because they are beautiful and because I love to have a woman who can understand my world. I am a BBW Model. I take still pictures for money or sometimes just in exchange for professional photos. I model clothing on runways or fashion shows. I do not strip, prostitute or shoot porn, nor do I have sex for money or because a guy likes big girls. Now there is nothing bad or dirty about women who choose these professions.. but please stop calling yourself a model. A model is in fact that a Model: a physical representation of a class or type of person.. used to portray that class as a whole. When you use the term BBW model and you are a porn star... it makes it extremely hard for people to differentiate the two. I am invited to "BBW parties only to attend and find it's actually a orgy fest for fat chicks. No matter what your profession or size you should be 100% proud of what you do. If you are not then perhaps you should reconsider your profession. If you are a BBW Stripper… that's cool… make your money. If you are BBW Porn Star …. that's cool make your money… escort… cool make your money sweetie…but stop saying you are a model… porn stars are actresses., strippers are exotic dancers, and models are models. I am tired of opening my inbox to find some one assumes that I willing to do porn… thinks I want a "date" etc…. I have decided to use the word Plus Sized Model now.. simple because the term "BBW" has become synonymous with " Big Hoochie Mama" and I hate it!

As women we should be proud of having a term that encompasses what we are:

Big Beautiful Women and because of that we should hesitate to have that term be misinterpreted by society. Working as a Plus model I know it is extremely hard to find regular, paying work out there. But there is some work out there, I am living proof of that. Yet... I find that a lot of Plus Models are converting...

Allow me to tell you a story…. I had a young beautiful lady instant message me… I will keep her identity private… but she was discussing the possibility of her doing porn since plus modeling wasn't really paying the bills… I told her the ups and downs… and she expressed that that's what everyone wanted to see.. Sure it is.. Men will always want to see that…. but it's not the life that some of these women portray it to be… it's not all fabulosity… and glamour… it's a hectic life full of risks, sleazy producers and grimy co-workers. As an amateur you are lucky if your pay ends up doing more than covering your travel expenses and that $50 outfit you muscled together. By the time you subtract your nails, toes, weave etc.. you have made nothing at all… The pay often goes into self preparation for the next shoot… and if… big "if" you do get enough recognition the pressure is on … the expectations of your fans gets higher and you are expected to do more… and let's look at the odds here… You have to have something to market, face, ass or boobs… then you have to stand out… and then you have to compete against the other women who are already celebs in the industry… not an easy feat…. and when all is said and done.. only a small percentage of porn stars are rich enough to truly retire… it's is definitely a career in which you must hustle hard and prepare yourself with a plan B….. that being said I have many porn star friends that I love, who are about business and who are truly great people…. in fact I have a adult movie producer very close inside my inner circle and he will second everything I said….

So lady's the moral here is…. be sexy. be proud of who you are and what you do… state your occupation as is and don't let anyone knock you down…. respect yourself no matter what it is you do and have a classy way about you. You can be classy and have any occupation… how you carry yourself is extremely important in every situation and remember that if your going to be fat and glamourous then you have to make sure you love yourself first…
